He Does Exist!
Brent was admitted on July 4th under a Dr. Eric Bow and we had yet to meet this man, although all the staff referred to him when giving us information. The elusive Dr. Bow came to talk w/ Brent about all the anomalies Brent has been experiencing and in a nutshell, Brent's extreme responses to the cancer treatment seem to be tied into his ALPS and from having no spleen (this can't be proven other than by process of elimination and NOTHING else came back positive). Most people when they are recovering from chemo have a gentle increase in blood counts and eventually plateau at normal. Brent takes the rocket ship approach going sky high to which his body responds in various ways such as fevers, fluid retention, low BP, etc. The plan is still moving towards transplant and the current complications shouldn't interfere with the schedule. They are also planning on putting Brent back on his usual medication for the ALPS to try & quieten down his immune system for transplant. In all this, Dr. Bow stressed that the entire team including the NIH in Washington was involved and in agreement to Brent's current treatment plan. That's encouraging news but even more so is knowing that people are praying alongside us.
